Calculation of lost wages

Lost wages are calculated based on the actual salaries which the victim got before a traffic accident. If the victim did not gain salaries, the average wage is used for the calculation. You have to deduct interim interests from the calculated lost wages by using the Leibniz coefficient in traffic accident cases in Japan.

The amount of consolation money and lost wages may be different if you are not Japanese

Japanese law applies to any of the traffic accidents that happened in Japan, even if you are a foreigner. That means, if someone hits you, you have a right to be compensated for all the damages by at-fault local driver.
