GIROJ is an organization that investigates all the cases of CALI (Jibaiseki).
Insurance companies, traffic accident victims or at-fault parties submit the claims form to GIROJ. Upon submission, it starts an investigation on the situation of the traffic accident and the amount of damage the victim suffered.
If the claims form is not sufficient to understand the case, GIROJ requires them to submit the additional documents. Sometimes GIROJ even asks hospitals to be open with the victim's medical records.
For the convenience and fairness for everyone, GIROJ has a Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Investigation Office in each prefecture in Japan. It also has regional headquarters and a headquarter in Tokyo. Formal Objections and the cases which needs special attention are brought to the upper body.
It was state-owned before 2002, but it’s privatized now.
