Tips for auto injury

The treatment of auto injury is different from typical injury. In the auto injury treatment, you have to consider not only curing the damage but also how to prove that the injury is due to a traffic accident. Proving it to the at-fault party, insurance companies, and also to GIROJ (General Insurance Rating Organization of Japan.) is critical in the process of claiming compensation. In this article, we introduce five important tips when treating auto-injury.

Go to a hospital at least within three days after the accident

To get the full compensation you deserve, prove that your injury or sickness occurs in the traffic accident. So, even when your injury is minor, go to a hospital as soon as possible. If the first visit to a hospital is more than four days later, insurance companies might not admit that your injury is caused by the traffic accident. Insurance companies and CALI are based on the idea that heavier injury shows up faster.

Be honest and don't start treatment of the other symptoms

Some people also start treatment of the symptoms which are not medically related to the accident. Their purpose is to get medical expenses of their chronic symptoms from an insurance company. In this case, there might be a possibility that they cannot get compensated for any of their injuries even if some of them are clearly by the traffic accident.

Always think how to explain your symptom medically

Whether to get compensation from CALI depends on the quality of a Medical Certificate issued by your doctor. Note that the Medical Certificate is based on your treatment records. Go to a hospital at least once two weeks and make the records that can support your argument later.

Get examined by a doctor from as many points of views as possible

Not all the symptoms show up immediately after a car accident. Even when you feel your pain is minor, tell a doctor about your pain and ask the doctor to examine by MRI or CT if necessary. Not only to take pictures but also to ask him/her to do Neurological examination as well.

Think about all the possibilities

Be sensitive to note any difference between now and before the accident. Do you sleep well after you're hit by a car? If no, don't leave your symptoms behind and go to psychiatry to get diagnosed by a professional doctor. The important thing is to get a diagnosis on all the symptoms which might occur due to the unfortunate accident so that you can prove the relation between your symptoms and the accident later.
